The Native Strength book and app work together to support Native and Indigenous mental wellness.
Mental health is part of our health.
However, wellness is also about family, culture, identity, community, and connection.
Everyone has hard days.
Sometimes stress becomes too much. Grief may feel heavy. Trauma may affect daily life. A person may also feel worried, sad, angry, or alone.
Support can help.
Native Strength offers tools, education, and hope for those moments.
You matter.
Your story matters.
Your culture matters.
And you do not have to face hard times alone.
Native Strength: Cultural Paths to Healing, Hope and Resilience
The Native Strength book was created to support mental wellness, healing, and resilience.
It helps readers understand difficult feelings and life experiences.
It also offers ways to cope.
Readers can learn about mental health, stress, trauma, grief, and emotional wellness.
Most of all, the book focuses on strength and hope.
Healing does not mean forgetting the past.
Instead, healing can mean learning how to carry your story while building a healthier future.
Culture and Identity Matter
Culture can be an important source of strength.
For some people, that may mean family.
For others, it may mean language, traditions, stories, ceremony, art, music, nature, or time with community.
Every person is different.
Every Tribe and Nation is different too.
Therefore, there is no single path to wellness.
Native Strength respects that difference.
The goal is not to tell someone how they should heal.
The goal is to help people find tools that support their own path.
Understanding Trauma
Trauma can affect the way a person feels.
It can also affect sleep, relationships, trust, and daily life.
Sometimes a person knows why they are hurting.
Other times, they may not.
Learning about trauma can help people understand their reactions.
For example, someone may learn why certain situations make them feel scared or angry.
Understanding those feelings can be an important step.
It can help a person move from asking, “What is wrong with me?” to asking, “What happened, and what might help me now?”
Building Emotional Strength
Strength does not mean hiding your feelings.
It does not mean handling every problem alone.
Real strength can mean asking for help.
It can mean taking a break.
It can mean talking to someone you trust.
and
It can also mean setting a boundary or trying again tomorrow.
Small steps count.
You do not have to heal everything today.
LCH-Native Strength App
The LCH-Native Strength app brings additional mental wellness support to your phone.
The app works alongside the book.
It gives users another way to find information and use wellness tools when they need them.
A person may use the app during a stressful day.
They may use it when they need a coping tool.
They may also use it to learn more about emotional wellness or find support resources.
The app does not replace professional mental health care.
Instead, it provides another tool for the journey.
A Book to Learn. An App to Use.
The book and app have different roles.
The Native Strength book gives readers time to learn and reflect.
The LCH-Native Strength app gives users tools they can return to throughout the day.
Together, they create a more complete source of support.
Read.
Learn.
Practice.
Reflect.
Connect.
Then return whenever you need support.
Support During Hard Moments
Everyone needs support sometimes.
A difficult day does not make you weak.
Neither does anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, or stress.
If things begin to feel too heavy, reach out.
Talk with someone you trust.
That person may be a family member, friend, Elder, counselor, doctor, teacher, or community leader.
You do not need perfect words.
You can simply say:
“I need someone to talk to.”
That is enough to begin.
Suicide Prevention Matters
The Native Strength book and app also support suicide prevention.
Knowing the warning signs matters.
Someone may become very sad or withdrawn. They may stop doing things they once enjoyed.
Their sleep or behavior may change.
They may feel hopeless.
They may also talk about death or suicide.
Take those signs seriously.
Listen.
Stay with them.
Help them find support.
In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
Support for Families and Communities
Mental wellness does not happen alone.
Families matter.
Friends matter.
Communities matter.
Sometimes a person who is struggling cannot see their own strength.
Someone else may need to remind them.
Check in.
Listen without judgment.
Ask how you can help.
Most importantly, remind them that they matter.
A simple conversation can create connection.
And connection can save lives.
Healing One Step at a Time
Healing can take time.
That is okay.
Start with one small step.
Read one page.
Open the app.
Take a walk.
Write down your thoughts.
Talk with someone.
Spend time with people you trust.
Connect with something that brings you peace.
Then take another step tomorrow.
Our People. Our Strength. & Our Future.
The Native Strength book and app were created to offer education, practical tools, connection, and hope.
They recognize that mental wellness is personal.
They also recognize the importance of culture, family, identity, and community.
The past is part of the story.
But it does not have to be the end of the story.
There can be healing.
There can be growth.
and
There can be connection.
And there can be hope.
You matter.
You belong.
Your story matters.
Your culture matters.
and
Your future matters.
You are not alone.
