Anti-Bullying for Kids

Every Child Deserves to Feel Safe, Valued, and Included

Anti-Bullying for Kids

Bullying hurts.

It can happen at school.

It can happen online.

Sometimes, it even happens in places that should feel safe.

However, no child deserves to be bullied.

Every child deserves kindness.

Every child deserves respect.

Our Foundation created this resource to help children, teens, parents, caregivers, and educators understand bullying and learn healthy ways to respond.

What Is Bullying?

Bullying is more than someone being mean once.

Instead, it happens again and again.

It is meant to hurt, scare, or embarrass another person.

Bullying may include:

  • Name-calling
  • Teasing
  • Hitting
  • Pushing
  • Leaving someone out
  • Spreading rumors
  • Taking belongings
  • Sending hurtful messages online

Although bullying looks different in every situation, the goal is often the same to make someone feel powerless.

How Bullying Can Make You Feel

Being bullied can affect both your heart and your mind.

For example, you may feel:

  • Sad
  • Scared
  • Angry
  • Lonely
  • Embarrassed
  • Worried
  • Confused

Sometimes, you may even think the bullying is your fault.

It is not.

What You Can Do

You have choices.

First, stay calm if you can.

Then, walk away if it is safe.

Next, tell a trusted adult what happened.

You can also:

  • Stay with good friends.
  • Save online messages.
  • Block bullies online.
  • Avoid fighting back.
  • Keep speaking up until someone listens.

Most importantly, never keep bullying a secret.

If You See Someone Being Bullied

You can help.

However, you do not have to put yourself in danger.

Instead, you can:

  • Sit with them.
  • Include them.
  • Tell an adult.
  • Speak kindly.
  • Stand beside them.
  • Report online bullying.

Small acts of kindness make a big difference.

Bullying Online

Bullying does not end when school ends.

Today, it can happen through phones, games, and social media.

If someone bullies you online:

  • Do not reply.
  • Save the messages.
  • Block the person.
  • Tell a trusted adult.
  • Report the behavior.

Remember, you deserve to feel safe online, too.

Helping Build a Kinder School

Every student helps create the school community.

Therefore, choose kindness every day.

Smile at someone new.

Invite others to join.

Use kind words.

Respect differences.

Stand up for what is right.

Kindness spreads just as quickly as bullying.
